Resonating Creativity: The Unpredictable Journey of Parseltongue

This week's Band of the Moment is a two-piece band--maybe more of a studio project--called Parseltongue. The band consists of Corey Borger on vocals and Joseph Salvatori on the instruments.

Parseltongue emerged from the collaborative efforts of its founders, sparked by Joseph's music. Originally considering names like DEFECTORS, they settled on Parseltongue, drawing inspiration from the term in Harry Potter denoting someone who can speak to snakes. Despite Joseph's unfamiliarity with the wizarding world, the band embraced the concept, pushing beyond the initial DEFECTORS idea into a realm where they challenged themselves creatively.

Their musical journey started with the EP "Coiled," where the lyricist, overcoming a childhood mute period through therapeutic writing, poured raw, personal lyrics into music. The subsequent full-length album, "Basilisk," became a testament to the band's resilience, navigating personal challenges during its creation. Despite life's tribulations, Parseltongue solidified its identity as an unapologetic, genre-blurring project, showcasing the members' commitment to overcoming obstacles and pushing their creative boundaries.

The band's evolution continued with "Cosmic Cult," a concept album delving into a narrative involving a trapped demonic cosmic entity, showcasing the duo's collaborative strength even as Joseph relocated to Alabama. The album reflects their shared vision and commitment to pushing creative limits, emphasizing Parseltongue as a dynamic, genre-fluid project that defies expectations. With a history marked by challenges and triumphs, Parseltongue remains a testament to the duo's unique artistic partnership, promising an unpredictable and exciting musical journey ahead.
